Sponsorships, Grants and Awards

Basis Property Group runs three ongoing programs: a research grant tied to our public parcel datasets, an annual award for self-managed short-term rental operators, and community sponsorships for the meetups and podcasts that serve owner-operators. Each one is a real program with stated criteria, not a link scheme dressed up as a scholarship. Terms are below.

Programs

STR Data Research Grant

Inaugural 2026 · Up to 2,500 · One award per year

We built the NJ Land-to-Improvement Ratio Data page from 2,599,560 real residential parcels across all 21 New Jersey counties. Pennsylvania, North Carolina High Country, and Florida Panhandle data pages are in the plan. This grant funds original analysis built on that public data.

What it is
  • Up to 2,500 paid to a student, researcher, or journalist who produces original analysis using our public parcel datasets.
  • One award per year. This is the first year of the grant, so there are no past recipients; every application receives a reply.
What it is not
  • Not a general scholarship. We do not fund tuition, unrelated coursework, or work that does not use our data.
  • Not guaranteed. If no submission meets the bar in a given year, we do not award one.
Who qualifies
  • Students, researchers, or working journalists producing an original piece of analysis, not a rewrite of our own pages.
  • Analysis must use the public parcel data we publish (currently the NJ land-to-improvement data).
Deliverable
  • A published piece (academic, journalistic, or an independent research write-up) that cites the dataset by name.
How to apply

E-mail [email protected] with your proposed analysis, which dataset you plan to use, and where you intend to publish. We read every proposal.

STR Operator Award

Inaugural 2026 · Annual · Nominations open November 1, 2026

An annual recognition of short-term rental owners and hosts who run a documented, self-managed operation: guest experience, local compliance, and bookkeeping discipline.

Who qualifies
  • Self-managed short-term rental owners or hosts. Full-service property managers are not eligible; this award is for operators who run their own listing.
  • Judged on guest experience, local compliance record, and bookkeeping discipline, stated plainly at the time nominations open.
What winners get
  • A written profile of the winner's operation published on this site.
  • A badge the winner may display on their own listing or site. The badge links back here using the plain brand name as anchor text, never a keyword phrase.
Terms
  • No cost to enter. No purchase required.
  • No relationship to being a Basis client. Being a customer neither helps nor hurts a nomination.
How to apply

Nominate »

Nominate yourself or another operator at [email protected] once nominations open on November 1, 2026. First year of the award, so there are no prior winners to compare against; the criteria above are the whole test.

Community Sponsorships

Up to 5,000 per year

Basis sponsors up to 5,000 per year of short-term rental association meetups, small-landlord groups, and podcast episodes serving owner-operators in the markets we cover.

Disclosure
  • Every sponsored placement is disclosed as sponsored. Links from a sponsored placement carry rel="sponsored". That tag is a trust statement, not a technicality, and we ask any organizer we sponsor to keep it.
How to request

Request Sponsorship »

Send a short note to [email protected] with the event, the audience, and the date.

What We Do Not Do

  • No pay-to-play awards. No amount of money buys a win.
  • No purchased badges. A badge is earned by the STR Operator Award, never sold.
  • No undisclosed sponsorships. Every sponsored placement says so and carries rel="sponsored".
  • No scholarship listings created to farm links. The research grant funds real analysis of real data; it is not a page built to appear on scholarship directories.
